The bright side is that Katie Hagar now owns the track record in qualifying at Stockton 99 Speedway. She is the first woman ever to hold a track record at the famed speedway .She broke the  record with a blistering 13.57 hanging two tenths on the rest of the field. She started 9th with the invert and quickly moved to 6th but got turned around by the 5th place car. Re-starting from the back, Katie began passing cars on the outside (very difficult at Stockton) and inside as well quickly getting back in contention. Halfway through the main event the same car that caused the earlier issue got into the 6th place car turning him around and up into Katie’s path. The contact wasn’t bad until the 8th place car slid under our bumper. Too much cosmetic damage to get her back out in time… we had to call it a night. Katie was extremely disappointed as she clearly had the fastest race car on the track. As they say “that’s racing”. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It has been amazing to watch Katie's fan base explode here at Stockton. Their announcer makes a big deal to the crowd about Katie and our team’s participation with the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program. The 17-year-old from Nevada City, California, dominated race two at Brno in the Czech Republic to elevate himself to fifth place in the championship standings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Alexander leapfrogged ahead of pole-sitter Nicolas Maulini at the start and then disappeared up the road, setting the fastest lap of the race on lap four.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“I have not won since Mexico City last December, it feels great to win again,” said Alexander. “Everything went very smoothly and it was nice to create a little bit of history by becoming the first American to win in Formula Masters. ISR is very capable with 3 years experience with the IFM car. Our speed was there all weekend in the wet and dry, we are planning on many more victories before the year is out.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Rossi’s victory was also ISR’s maiden win in the series, much to the joy of team principal, Igor Salaquarda. “We have been trying to win a race for three years,” Salaquarda said. “So I’m very happy to have finally achieved it. Alexander has made quite an impact on our team. He is a very good driver and I find it very hard to remember that he’s only 17 years old.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;RACE: 19 laps&lt;br /&gt;Grid 2, Finish 1st, Fastest Lap&lt;br /&gt;The key to Alexander’s victory was his start. He jumped ahead of Maulini on the run to the first corner and never looked back. Unlike the first race, ISR went to a full dry set-up which allowed Alexander to immediately open up a gap, setting the fastest lap of the race on lap four, enabling him to deliver his true abilities at ISR Racing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;His closest challenger, Josef Kral, was forced to slow in the middle of the race with a broken front wing element, which allowed Alexander to ease his pace and simply bring his car home to the finish.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Up next for International Formula Master is, Brands Hatch in Great Britain, July 17-19 for rounds 7 and 8. It was time to stop the wining and dining and put the rubber to the road. “Here’s what I want,” said the sponsor. I’d like primary sponsorship, exclusivity and a hospitality suite at each race. Can you draw up a letter of intent forme tonight?”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We had just done a deal while riding in the back seat of a car and we learned that it didn’t always involve a lot of formalities. In this case, the driver and team were well known and the sponsor wanted to tie his brand to that combination. Certainly, this made the deal easier to make but it reflects the full range of dealmaking and it also shows that doing the deal is an art that must be practiced with precision, foresight and reacting to changing circumstances. So I’ve written the following suggestions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. If you are going to make things happen, earn a sponsor, ormake a deal that involves a monetary transaction, you must first think and always be ready to think and react at the right time with the right argument and the right answer for the potential sponsor. One thing that fewpeople understand is that doing business in the American economy is not about doing prescribed tasks and repeating what others have done before. In America, you must always be thinking, reacting and innovating in order to beat your competition. You cannot get locked into an approach that others have repeated time and time again; you must find new ways to impress the sponsor, find new methods for promoting his products and come up with new ideas from your own head.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. But you can’t do the deal unless you understand sponsorship. Professionalism counts. Never underestimate the power of a good impression and attitude. I’ve been in meetings where drivers wore dirty blue jeans and crackly old leather jackets – that was their personal style. Later, they came to the discussion late and hung-over – that was their personal style. Did they impress? Did they fight “the man” and solidify their value in the marketplace? Nope. Always dress well, always have a great attitude and, even if your personal style is to be the next rebel without a clue, leave it on the track. It doesn’t belong in the boardroom.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Associate with the best. The people with whom you associate are a reflection of your competitive position. Always seek to upgrade your competitive associations. Develop relationships with the top people in the sport, exchange contact information and enlist them in helping you to move up in the sport.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Keep a cheat sheet. A sheet of paper that has a list of some of the objections you might receive and some of the answers that you can give to them will serve you well. It is also something you can change and improve as youmake more contacts with sponsors.
